A Comparison of the Schultz Molecular Topological Index with the Wiener Index
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Schultz molecular topological index (MTI) is compared with the Wiener index (W) of a molecular graph. It is shown that 2VminW < MTI e 4VmaxW holds for any (connected) graph Γ, with Vmin and Vmax denoting the smallest and the largest valency, respectively, of the vertices of Γ. For molecular graphs these bounds can be further improved. For instance, for benzenoid systems we have the following: 4W < MTI < 6.93W. This implies that W and MTI are linearly correlated not only in the case of acyclic molecules (which is a previously known result) but also in the case of molecules with arbitrarily many cycles.

On the distance based indices of H-phenylenic nanotorus
Let G be a connected simple (molecular) graph. The distance d(u, v) between two vertices u and v of G is equal to the length of a shortest path that connects u and v. In this paper we compute some distance based topological indices of H-Phenylenic nanotorus. At first we obtain an exact formula for the Wiener index. As application we calculate the Schultz index and modified Schultz index of this...
متن کاملThe Topological Indices of some Dendrimer Graphs
In this paper the Wiener and hyper Wiener index of two kinds of dendrimer graphs are determined. Using the Wiener index formula, the Szeged, Schultz, PI and Gutman indices of these graphs are also determined.

Topological indices are one of the oldest and most widely used descriptors in Quantitative StructureProperties Relationvhips (QSPR). Amongst the topological indices used a,s descriptors in QSPIC., the Wienerindex is by far the most popular index. as it has been shown that the Wiener index has a strong correlationwith the chemical propenies of the compound. In this study, the relationship between...
متن کاملComparison of Topological Indices Based on Iterated ‘Sum’ versus ‘Product’ Operations
The Padmakar-Ivan (PI) index is a first-generation topological index (TI) based on sums over all edges between numbers of edges closer to one endpoint and numbers of edges closer to the other endpoint. Edges at equal distances from the two endpoints are ignored. An analogous definition is valid for the Wiener index W, with the difference that sums are replaced by products. A few other TIs are d...
متن کاملA note on connectivity and lambda-modified Wiener index
In theoretical chemistry, -modified Wiener index is a graph invariant topological index to analyze the chemical properties of molecular structure. In this note, we determine the minimum -modified Wiener index of graph with fixed connectivity or edge-connectivity. Our results also present the sufficient and necessary condition for reaching the lower bound.
